Top 3 Acne Medications

Acne is a common disorder in skin that may last for long in an individual. For many people, acne isn?t a problem anymore when they reach the age of 30. But there are also individuals who continually carry the facial burden longer than expected. Treatments are important to avoid complications. When simple treatments are not enough, perhaps it is time to consider medical options for the acnes.

The top three acne medications are the following:

1.Benzoyl peroxide

This anti-bacterial medication takes care of killing the P. Acnes, acne-causing bacteria. It is an antiseptic agent that reduces the amount of barren pores. It will take approximately 3 weeks to see the changes.

This ingredient is also used for bleaching the hair and fabric so make sure to use it right. It is both over-the-counter and prescription drug that comes in gel or cream.

There is an estimated 3% of individuals found to be allergic to such substance so make sure that you don?t belong to that group or else you will experience skin inflammation if you apply it on your skin.

2.Salicylic Acid

Used to treat skin disorders such as dandruff, calluses, and warts, salicylic acid can also be used as an acne medication. It slows down the cells in the follicles from cracking which prevents blockage. It also assists in breaking down the whiteheads and blackheads.

Salicylic acid comes in many forms including cream, gel, lotion, ointment, and many more. Only use the medicine according to the directions on the label recommendations or from the doctor; otherwise, it may result to acid poisoning. Poisoning can be noticed when the person using it experiences dizziness, diarrhea, deep breathing, etc.

3.Sulfur

This ingredient is common among soaps, washes, and creams. It allows the skin to peel and dry enabling the breaking down of the whiteheads and blackheads. It is necessary to check the label directions so as to avoid unnecessary complications.

It is always best to seek professional advice when taking any of the medications. It is better to be sure. These medications, however, only kills bacteria, slows down cell breakdown, and peels off the skin but it will never stop the skin from acquiring bacteria after a certain span of time.

Alexander Technique Better Posture Better Health Better Life

Alexander Technique In brief

A self-help therapy in which people are taught postural and physical skills to improve usage of their own body and eliminate unnecessary stress and tension.

Background and History

The creator of this technique, Frederick Matthias Alexander, was an Australian who lived in the late 1800s. A promising actor, he had problems with his voice that began to impact on his career. Doctors could find nothing wrong so Alexander began to wonder if he was somehow putting undue stress and strain on his vocal organs. He began to observe himself and others to try to understand the mechanisms that influenced speech.

Over many years his observations lead him to conclude that speech was influenced by the entire posture and the balance of tension in the whole body. He further observed that these factors influenced not only speech but the ability to maintain tranquil under pressure, breathing, correct use of the limbs, and overall health. He concluded that in fact these things were crucial for correct and healthy functioning of the body. As his voice and general health improved he gradually began to show others his technique and eventually set up a practice.

By 1904 he was very successful and moved to London, England to continue his work. Alexander proved popular in London, his client list including such eminent names as George Bernard Shaw, Aldous Huxley and William Temple, the Archbishop of Canterbury. Furthermore, his method was endorsed by many leading scientists who agreed that it was consistent with modern scientific discoveries in neurology and physiology. Sir Charles Sherrington, the 'father of neurology' was one such scientist who back Alexander's method. In 1931 Alexander began to train teachers of the technique. He ran 3 year training courses, which he continued until his death at the age of 86.

Alexander Technique today

There are an estimated 2500 teachers of Alexander technique around the world today, with the highest concentration in the UK. It is well known among performing artists and indeed is part of the curriculum at many schools of performing arts.

How does it work?

Alexander Technique teaches self-awareness so that the underlying causes of pain and discomfort can be identified and remedied. By using the body more efficiently less stress and strain is put on the joints, muscles and ligaments.

Despite the backing from the conventional medical establishment since the beginning, there has been little formal research in the Technique. Small pilot studies have shown improvements in balance, depression associated with Parkinsons disease, and ease of breathing, among other things.

How To Remove Skin Tags 5 Simple Remedies Exposed

Men?Are you self-conscious about your skin and hate taking your shirt off during the summer because of skin tags? And Ladies? do you fear wearing jewelry around your neck--because it might draw attention to your skin condition or get caught up on skin tags?

If you?re a sufferer of ugly, embarrassing skin tags?and you want a simple solution to your problem.

3) Take a short piece of string and tie off the skin tag-- cutting off the blood supply that keeps the skin tag alive--causing it to fall off.

4) Another painless way to Remove them is using compound w freeze off and a q-tip?just apply it to the tag and monitor the results

5) If your insurance won?t pay ?Tell your (friendly) doctor that they?re causing you to itch severely?in most cases ?that will change it from a cosmetic to medical procedure. Remember, you?ll never know unless you ask.

But a word of caution though ? there is risk involved if you?re on blood thinners or you are a diabetic and as always, if there is a family history of cancer--then consulting a medical professional would be wise.

Oriental Medicine and Your Retirement

Are you saving and investing your precious assets today, so that you?ll have what you'll need when you try to retire tomorrow? Probably not, warn experts who say, Americans need to save more for retirement. A dicey situation that's drastically compounded when you factor in that Social Security and Medicare are disintegrating at the same time tens of millions of people are expecting to use these funds to help maintain their health and well-being.

As these important economic systems continue to deteriorate, the conventional idea of what it means to retire is changing too, because as we live longer, we?re going to have to work longer. Maybe instead of retiring, most of us will be trying to re-tire our bodies to keep keep on going. This is the only way many of us will be able to continue living what we've come to consider the good life. So now is a good time to ask yourself a couple of focusing questions:

  • Based on how I'm living today, will I have the energy (Chi) to continue supporting myself (and perhaps my children) when I'm in my 60s and 70s?
  • What can I start doing right now to bolster and maintain my health so that I have the resources I'll need to support a long and fulfilling life?
  • Ancient Chinese doctors and philosophers knew that people of their time ? like today ? needed an affordable, natural way to stay healthy so that they could live the best life possible. And their successful methods are available today, for people like you, facing the risk of not being able to afford conventional health care once you retire.

The Economics of Health and Well-being
The old adage says: time is money; logic says, time is life. So it follows that, money is life, because, generally speaking, no one gives or pays you money unless you provide something useful to them in exchange. And since the goods and services we exchange with each other, to satisfy our needs and wants, take energy (Chi) to produce, it's essential to stay healthy to remain productive in our changing economy.

Today, so many people are working very long hours to buy expensive things to enjoy today, while trying to '401k-away' enough cash for retirement. But, when you do the arithmetic, it becomes evident that today's goods aren't that 'good' when you factor in the health problems ? like insomnia, restless leg syndrome, and other stress-related ailments ? associated with high levels of consumption. (It's interesting to note, that in our grandparents' time consumption was the term used to describe the dis-ease of tuberculosis.)

It's been said that cash savings have virtually disappeared in the United States because people rely heavily on debt to finance a lifestyle that remains barely within their means. And while trying to 'finance' that lifestyle, there is a drawing down of 'health reserves' (Chi). This means that many of us are borrowing and spending our energy today, hoping we'll be able to pay it back?with interest?in the future. The problem is that the future is when we'll be wanting to retire, and will need our resources in our bank accounts and bodies.

An American philosopher said: Health is the first wealth. And like money in the bank, it will last longer if you conserve your energy and invest it properly.

    Balancing Your Accounts
Oriental medicine has been practiced by millions of people for thousands of years, and provides an evolutionary approach to health and well-being that is desperately needed today. This new paradigm or model can be summed up in one word balance.

In a financial sense, if you properly allocate your financial 'energy' or assets, you'll spend some on today's needs and wants, and save some for tomorrow. If you spend only the amount you earn today, you would be in balance, or, in other words, be 'living within your means'; but you wouldn't have the 'reserves' or rainy day fund that our grandparents and parents knew was so essential. Having a 'surplus' is still essential today, but this wisdom has been atrophied by the seduction of easy consumer credit. On the other hand, if you budget your financial and 'energetic' income in such a way that you spend less than you earn, you'll have a 'surplus' or 'savings' to use in the future, for retirement or other life-fulfilling experiences.

    Managing Your 'Trust Fund'
Oriental medicine starts off by recognizing the obvious?which too often isn't obvious at all; that is, most everyone inherits a trust fund of energy, commonly talked about as 'health' when they're born. Why is it like a 'trust fund'? Because you didn't ask for it, it just came to you, and you trust as you go along through life that it will be there for you. Then, as you grow up, and grow old, how you invested your 'trust' along the way, directly affects how well you're able to capitalize on the investment Life has made in you.

Because our energy needs to last a lifetime, one of the first lessons we need to learn as children is how to replenish, and add to, our original supply of energy as we go about the business of living. Unfortunately, like the folk wisdom related to 'thrift,' the knowledge pool related to 'health' has more or less dried up too. Though, to a large extent it still operates in how we relate to some things in our lives. Take your car for example: it's generally understood that you need to keep your car fueled and maintained if it's going to carry you where you need and want to go. It's useful to apply this logic to your body too.

So given the importance of our trust fund, it's essential to know how to invest and manage it in ways that deliver the return of a lifetime. And a key principle to remember in managing your 'trust fund is this: 'Avoid spending your principal!' or you'll be broke sooner rather than later.

    Finding a Trustee
Just as financial management is a complex undertaking, where having a trusted advisor can make the difference between success and failure, so too with managing your health. You want a financial advisor who can show you how to invest in ways that generate more money (remember: 'money is life); and you want a 'health advisor' that can help you increase your 'life energy.'

A good Oriental medicine practitioner is that kind of trustee for your health.

So once again, ask yourself, What am I doing today to ?save, invest and balance' my 'trust fund' so that I can meet all of my needs, and some of my wants, today ? and for the rest of my life? And if you listen carefully for your answer, you may hear the echo of Mickey Mantle's words ? a man who made lot's of money is his time - gently tapping you on the shoulder, reminding: ?If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.?

    Rolfing Description and Benefits

Rolfing was developed about 50 years ago by Ida Rolf, PhD, a biochemist who became interested in the subject of body structure and function while trying to relieve her son's pain. She originally named it structural integration and although this name is still used today, it has become more popularly known as Rolfing - a name that is now trademarked.

The theory behind Rolfing is that the body's natural state is relaxed, comfortable and aligned with the Earth's gravity. However, over time the stresses of everyday life cause people to adjust the way they hold their bodies and the way they move. An example is what happens when people spend long hours at a computer - their head drops down and forward, their shoulders hunch over and their ears end up over air instead of directly above their shoulders.

Newly-learned positions and movements become patterns and for a while may be more comfortable. But eventually, because they work against gravity, they put even more stress on the body. Muscles may become shorter on one side and longer on the other and the tissue that connects them - the fascia - may become stiff and even fused, creating adhesions. A Rolfing treatment is designed to not only release the adhesions and relax the muscles, but also teach better body mechanics so that the patterns the client has just unlearned don't return.

A Rolfing session does use massage techniques, but these are usually done more slowly and deeply; since Rolfing is intended to affect the structure of the body, the more superficial techniques of massage are not helpful. The work the Rolfer does can be intense. But the level of discomfort the client may feel will depend on how out of the balance the body is and whether the Rolfer has to do a lot of work to release the effects of old injuries. The best advice is to try to avoid tensing up by breathing through the more difficult techniques. After a treatment the client will usually feel lighter and more balanced and may even be taller.

Rolfing is usually done in a series of 10 sessions, starting with specific areas and progressing to whole-body treatments. These sessions are usually done about a week to two weeks apart. The Rolfer may also give the client exercises to do between sessions to help them move more correctly and stay aware of how they move - in other words, to keep the re-education process going. Some people would rather get only one or two treatments focusing on what they think are their problem areas, but most Rolfers discourage this. They believe that focused treatment is not helpful and does not have lasting effects, because each part of the body supports each other part.

Some of the effects of Rolfing are - increased flexibility - better posture - relief of pain, muscle tension, or headaches - smoother, more efficient body movement - emotional balancing (which results from the physical balancing and release of old injuries)

Because it works to change the structure - and therefore function - of the entire body, Rolfing may not be as relaxing as some other forms of bodywork, but for long-term effects many people prefer it to anything else.

Detoxify Your Body: Colon Cleansing Explained

Living in an unavoidably toxin-filled world can have some very negative affects on our health. But since the only real option to avoid that is to enclose ourselves inside a germ-free bubble, you might be interested to know that there is another alternative way to protect yourself and at the same time, also reverse many of the detrimental influences created in your body by the atmosphere we live in.

Colon Cleansing is a healthy and helpful way to rid yourself of the poisons we accumulate in our bodies on a daily basis. Breathing in toxins is not the only way this happens either. Fast food and generally unhealthy eating habits in addition to lack of exercise are also major contributors to certain types of stomach, colon and other health-related problems. With the rise in Colon Cancer and its status as the number one cause of cancer deaths in the United States, Colon Cleansings or Colonic Irrigation as it is also called, is a very popular means of not only helping to ease and prevent that disease, but also has lots of other health benefits.

Take a look at this checklist and see if you suffer from any of these symptoms. If so, a colon cleansing might be a great, natural way to help relieve your discomfort.

    * Constipation
    * Irritable Bowl Syndrome
    * Diarrhea
    * Gas or Bloating
    * Menstruation Problems
    * Overworked Liver and Hemorrhoids
    * Fibromyalgia and/or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
    * Distressed or Blemished Skin
    * Allergies or Sinus Problems
    * Muscle Aches, Low Back or Joint Pain
    * Insomnia
    * Energy Loss
    * Problems with Nutrient Absorption

So what exactly is a Colon Cleansing you ask? A colon cleansing session consists of a speculum being inserted into the rectum with two other tubes ? one pushing clean, filtered water into your system thereby flushing out all of the toxins out through second tube. The appointment usually lasts about 45 minutes and costs vary depending on where you live.

Many people swear to the fact that after years of self-medication and doctor?s visits, a colon cleansing is what finally cured them of many of the distresses listed above. This method of cleaning the interior of the body has actually been around for thousands of years, recorded as far back Egyptian times. It may be something you should consider if you have been suffering and getting no relief from the more ?scientific? methods you?ve utilized, or are just into finding a natural way to live a healthier life.

Colon cleansing uses natural health & herbs to help your body to heal health problems which are often related to a colon which is not functioning as nature intended.

Sinus Tooth and Eye Problem SelfHelp

    The Alternating Hot/Cold Soak Method

The most effective technique that I know of for sinus, tooth and eye problems is the hot/cold soak. This one is an easy, effective, cheap treatment that you can do at home. It helps for allergies, bacterial, fungal or viral infections, abscesses, ear infections and anything else associated with the head where many prescription drugs fail to penetrate quickly.

    1) Step One: Take two pans of water large enough to put your feet into. One should be filled with very hot but not scorching water and the other pan with cold water (add some ice cubes to this one.) Add a clean washcloth to each pan.

    2) Step Two: Take the hot washcloth, squeeze the water out, and put it on your face for three minutes. At the same time, have your feet in the cold water.

    3) Step Three: Now, switch, and put the cold washcloth over your face for three minutes and your feet in the hot water bath for that same time.

    4) Step Four: Repeat the process for three full cycles. Do this 1-2 times/day for four days and I think you will be well on your way to recovery.

The purpose of the hot/cold treatment is to flush the circulation from one end of your body to the other which moves and dislodges stagnated chi or energy. Many of the cancer clinics in Mexico use a modification of this technique where you take a shower with hot/cold water. For that technique use 15 seconds as hot as you can take it then 15 seconds as cold as you can take it.

    Asthma Treatment and Asthma Prevention

More than 17 million people in the US alone suffer from asthma, a serious lung ailment, resulting in 5,000 asthma deaths a year. Asthma is an allergic inflammation of the lungs, which is generally triggered by pollens, molds, dust, animal dander, air pollution, chemicals, exercise, temperature changes or ingestion of certain foods.

During an asthma attack the walls of the lungs become inflamed and the mucus membranes fill with fluid and thick, sticky mucus making it difficult to breathe. Asthma symptoms can include a scratchy throat, coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing and a tight feeling in the chest. An asthma attack can be mild, moderate or severe and lasting for a few minutes, hours, or even several days.

Knowing when to get emergency help for a severe attack can save your life. If you are experiencing the following, you should seek immediate medical attention:

-your medication does not control your symptoms

-you have extreme difficulty breathing, talking and walking,

-your fingernails or lips are turning blue,

-your chest feels tight and your ribs are pulled inward as you breathe,

-your nostrils flare when you breathe

Unfortunately, many widely prescribed asthma drugs can have serious and even fatal side effects. Salmeterol, the medication used in Advair and Serevent appeared to trigger fatal attacks in some users. Additional side effects of these drugs are: liver dysfunction and damage, increased heart rate, blood pressure, heart beat irregularities, chest pain tremor, nervousness, worsening of bronchiospasm (life-threatening), allergic reactions: skin rash, hives, swelling, bronchiospasm, and anaphylaxis (life-threatening), worsening of diabetes and lowering of potassium, potentially fatal heart complications.

    Asthma Prevention

Doctors and researchers agree that the single most important thing that parents can do to prevent their child from developing asthma in the first place is to eliminate or significantly reduce dust mite allergens or asthma triggers in the home.

Clinical studies have revealed that avoidance of dust mite allergens in early childhood can prevent the onset of asthma... -Michael LeNoir Md

Dust mite allergens are known to play a major role in it's development. Researchers have determined that other important allergens (after dust mites) that also need to be eliminated from the home are cats, certain types of mold, dogs, cockroaches and tobacco smoke. It is a popular misconception that children will outgrow asthma. It is a severe and potentially life-threatening illness that should be taken seriously. Long term use of steroid drugs is not recommended by doctors and has serious side effects. Making these preventative environmental changes is a much more viable, healthy and preferable alternative. If you or your child are already suffering from asthma or allergies these measures will certainly help.

    Jogging All Around Benefits

After working each day, I would run up and down the long drive where I lived several times. In a few weeks I saw an improvement and the weight was coming off. I was now more encouraged and started jogging on the main road and any place that I could. After a few months time, I was almost back to my normal weight. I felt good about myself and what I had accomplished. The jogging gave me more energy than I had ever had before.

Jogging has its advantages and disadvantages. Time is a big factor to most of us. We don?t have the time to spend hours in an exercise program each day or even every other day. Jogging takes less time to burn calories and to achieve cardiovascular fitness. A heavier individual would burn more calories quicker than a smaller individual for the same amount of exercise. How many calories an individual would burn would depend on the duration of the workout. Jogging conditions the heart, improves muscle tone and strength, and relieves stress. It can also help with a variety of other health problems such as osteoporosis, heart disease and arthritis. Some of the disadvantages of jogging are: Due to the high impact, jogging is more likely to cause joint problems. Other injuries can be from placing stress on the muscles although; with the proper shoes and proper stretching, you can greatly reduce your risk of injury.

Before you decide to get into an exercise program of any type you should get a medical clearance from your doctor, especially if you have a heart problem, high blood pressure, over 60 or are or have been a smoker. When you start your jogging program, start off by stretching all your muscles. Begin by walking to get your body use to the new program. Gradually build up to a faster pace and then on to a short jog. Your feet may be tender from always wearing shoes. You can condition your feet by jogging barefoot. At first you may want to jog on the grass but then work up to jogging on pavement to toughen up the feet. Don?t overdo, set a pace that is comfortable for you. Pushing yourself will only be discouraging and you will become tired of the program. If you are not feeling well or just don?t feel up to doing the routine, then don?t. It is more harmful to push yourself if you really are not up to it. If you find you are out of breath after a jog, or cannot carry on a conversation while jogging, you may need to slow the pace. Jog properly, landing on the ball of your heel and let the rest of your foot follow. Push off from your toes as you begin your next step. Let your arms swing and keep your back straight, don?t hunch up. It is only natural to lean forward some while jogging up hill. Relax your body. You can do more harm to your body by being tense. Make sure that you bring cool water along to keep your body from dehydrating. Always stretch your body again after a work out.

Wearing proper gear is important. You don?t have to pay a fortune for a pair of running shoes. A comfortable pair of shoes will do in the beginning. As you get more advanced in your jogging program, you may find that you are willing to spend more money on a good pair of running shoes. Avoid wearing thin or dress socks. You may want to wear athletic socks; it may help in the reduction of blisters. If you find that you are getting blisters, you may want to try applying petroleum jelly to your feet before jogging. You should wear light, loose fitting clothing. Light or white clothing will help keep the body cooler and loose fitting will let you move freely. If you are jogging at night, wear bright colors so you can be spotted easily but don?t jog at night unless it is absolutely the only time that is available for you.

Safety when jogging is important. Never jog in an unfamiliar place. Jog facing the traffic. Change your route; don?t jog in the same areas every time. Keep alert! Be aware of you surroundings. Carry a whistle in case needed to alert someone that you need help. If you are being followed, go to the nearest house and call the police. Stay away from bushes where someone could hide. If you can, jog with someone that you know. Always take a key to your home with you so you can get back in and never leave your home unlocked while you are jogging.

I have continued to jog throughout my life time for one reason or another. Jogging can be fun and relaxing as well as getting exercise and reducing stress levels. Enjoy the view. Put on a headset and listen to music. Make jogging fun, relaxing, enjoyable, and spend some quality time for yourself. You will be amazed at the benefits you will receive.

Ear Candling Removing a Life Time of Debris

Although centuries old, the ancient technique of ear candling or ear coning has seen increasing interest in the past decade in the holistic community. Thought to have originated with the Egyptians, it was used for spiritual cleansing as well as physical cleaning. It was believed to open and clear the spirit centers and refresh the auras.

Original style coning by the Egyptians utilized hollow reeds. Today, coning/candling uses a hollow candle, much like a large straw. Although they differ, most candles are made of 100% unbleached cotton (muslin) fabric coated with purified paraffins and/or bees' wax. There are also some specialty candles which contain herbs and oils.

Candling applies simple laws of science. The flame of the candle (when the candle is properly seated in the ear) creates a draw or vacuum which pulls the wax, fungus, candida, yeast, and other particles of debris out of the ear and up into the bottom of the candle. The vacuum is caused by the warmed air from the flame and the colder existing air moving through the hollow chamber of the candle. The movement and compression between the ear canal and the candle chamber generate air flow with increasing velocity, thus producing the sucking vacuum.

As the particles are drawn from the ear and into the bottom of the candle, the air flow becomes disrupted. This is why it is important to remove the candle and tap out the contents.

Why candle? The purpose of candling is to remove wax buildup, especially the heavy impacted wax that normal cleaning cannot remove. Candling is a more comfortable and less expensive alternative to the traditional cleaning method of forcing water into the ear canal.

Candling is also believed to remove candida, yeasts, fungus, and remnants of past infections. The Ear, Nose and Throat Journal of U of U Medical lab reported that the types of bacteria we currently fight in our ears include Streptococcus pneumonia, Staphylococcus aureus, Anaerobic bacteria, and Influenza A and B.

A lifetime of residues build up in the ear canal!

Candling can be done on persons of any age. Candlers often have accounts of children, even babies, being candled with remarkable results. Inner ear infection is one of the top reasons for hospital admittance in children. Often candling has been used as a last effort for treating chronic ear infections and to avoid ear tubal placement. As well as treating the ear, candling can work on the sinus and lymph system, removing impurities there as well.

Because of all the intricate crevices in the ear, unbelievable amounts of debris can accumulate. This buildup creates a breeding ground for problems, and can also interfere with correct hearing. Impacted wax can build up against ear ducts and can also block reception of incoming sound waves. This lifetime accumulation may explain some of the hearing problems we develop as we age. It is reported that 20% of adults between 65-74 have hearing problems.

It is important to discuss candling with your health practitioner and always use common sense. Candling is not a replacement for proper health care, but can be an effective home remedy. Candling should not be done on a person who has a perforated eardrum or similar problems.

Candling is quite simple and is done with a partner. Generally, three candles are used in each ear. This varies from person to person as does the frequency of candling. Read and follow the specific instructions which come with your candles. The basic procedure is to have the person whose ears are being candled to lay on his/her side or to place their head sideways on a table. Be sure they are comfortable, as candling can take 15-20 minutes per candle, depending on the type of candle. The candlee should place the small tapered end of the candle snugly into the ear. (The candle may be inserted through a paper plate covered with aluminum foil to protect the face and hair.) The candle must fit snugly to allow proper air draw. As the bottom fills, gently tap it out in a bowl and carefully cut back the burned wick. The suction sounds much like the gentle hum one hears when a seashell is placed against the ear.

After candling, it is recommended to gently rinse the ears and place a couple of drops of oil of garlic into the ear. The normal wax will be replaced within 24 hours. For the first 24 hours after candling, it is best to protect the ears from wind, cold, and excessive amounts of water. Within 24 hours the normal production of wax will again protect the ear. CAUTION: Ear candles are a home remedy and should not take the place of medical treatment. They make no medical claims. They are not a medical device or take the place of any medical device.

Life is moving at a frantic pace with so much stress going on in our daily professional and personal lives. On top of that the world is undergoing rapid changes with unprecedented speed and scope. This is enough to stress anyone out. That is why people are looking to relax and unwind during those stolen brief moments of solace away from the commotion of everyday living.

People may opt to go to movies, go out with some friends, play a sport, or go on a mini vacation, etc. Another popular way to relax is to get a good massage. Massages have a great mitigating effect on reducing tension and stress, not to mention alleviate back pain and other nuisances.

The trouble is, a professional massage is not always convenient especially in our hectic days. Also massages may run up your bills if done too frequently. However that doesn't mean you or anyone else should give up the prospect of relaxing and unwinding with a therapeutic massage with A-Grade quality licensed professional results.

That's right, massage chairs are making inroads into offices and homes around the nation. Massage chairs provide a very convenient way to enjoy the vast list of benefits that a massage inherently provides.

Lung Cancer 101 What You Need to Know About

Accounting about for 14% of all cancers and 28% of all cancer deaths, Lung Cancer is now the major cause of deaths (of both men and women) in the United States apart from being the most prevalent species of cancer. Lung Cancer is different from benign cancer tumours (which do not generally spread to other parts of the body affecting only the part which is hit by it) as Lung Cancer (having the ability to start anywhere in the respiratory systems or lungs) CAN spread to different organs of the body.

    The Best Acne Products

The are many acne products on the market today that can help clear your skin. However, they don't all work for everybody. Sometimes a simple over-the-counter cream can do the trick, other times you may need a more powerful prescription medication. Learning about all of your options is a good starting point.

Our faces contain millions of pores that must remain open and clear in order to let natural oils drain to the skin's surface. In the event that a pore becomes clogged, the oil builds up and mixes with bacteria to form a painful, inflamed pimple.

Fortunately, there are acne skin care products that can not only help get rid of pimples, but also prevent new breakouts in some cases. Over the counter acne products are usually the first stop because they are relatively inexpensive and easy to use. Oxy, Clearasil, and Stri-Dex are the most common topical treatments that you can purchase without a prescription.

Benzoyl peroxide is the active ingredient in Oxy, Clearasil, and many other acne products that you can find at your local drugstore. It is also a main component of Proactiv Solution, which can be purchased online. Although it can help with mild to moderate cases of skin blemishes, some users may experience itching, burning, and swelling of the treated areas.

Stri-Dex contains salicylic acid, which also has its share of possible side effects. This product can cause skin irritation, allergic reaction, peeling, and burning. Most over the counter acne skin care products have a significant chance of making acne worse rather than improving the condition. This is because they contain harsh ingredients that your skin may be sensitive to.

Some of the best acne products are natural supplements, namely antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that can remedy your skin problems from the inside out. Rather than topical applications that are quite often ineffective, natural supplements are taken orally, and the nutrients within can help treat the pimple, rejuvenate the skin and prevent new breakouts from occurring. All of this is accomplished without the potential side effects of OTC and prescription acne skin care products.

Besides over the counter topical solutions and natural supplements, there are a number of prescription acne products such as Retin A and Accutane, which contain stronger active ingredients for severe breakouts that don't respond to other treatments. These meds come with some side effects, so they should be a last resort for most individuals.

Talk to your dermatologist to find out best acne products for your skin. A cream or oral supplement may just work for you. If not, perhaps you need a stronger medication. In any event, rest assured that the solution is out there somewhere.

    Energy Healing

    WHAT IS ENERGY HEALING?

The laying on of hands, also known as energy healing, energy therapy, bioenergy therapy, biofield therapy and energy work, promotes healing by enhancing the energy flow and correcting disturbances in the human aura that surrounds the body. This improvement of the flow of aura's energy supports the self-healing capacity of the body.

The laying on of hands is an old healing modality that is making its way back into our lives in a revival of ancient understandings. All around the world people is learning how to sense energy, move their energy and they are rediscovering energy healing therapies.

The application of energy fields for healing, implies the generation of a magnetic field strong enough to produce changes in the body without harming it, and that field should be refined enough to treat specific illness, because treating the aura with a large frequency spectrum is not enough.

Vibrational healing or the laying on of hands can restore people to a state of health and harmony in four planes:

    physically

    mentally

    emotionally

    and spiritually

IS THERE ANY OTHER KIND OF HEALING?

    No there is not!

Everything that exists is energy, so every healing involves energy although most healing methods are only focused on the physical level.

Energy healing works over the energetic level of our being, and from there it influences the physical, emotional, mental and the spiritual level.

Energy healing is then a holistic healing method, because it addresses the energy of which the body mind and emotions are composed, complementing and supporting the other healing methods.

the vibrational healers treat people by using pure energy that affects the energetic system acting as a type of wave-guide to redirect or realign the affected subtle energies.

    ENERGY HEALING AND ENERGY MEDICINE

Energy healing works through the laying on of hands, and is only part of a wider field called Energy Medicine that uses crystals, herbs, sound or mind control.

All of them work over vibratory patterns which influence the energetic patters at work in the physiology

Some healers like to employ crystals or other tools to produce energy healing, but energy healing if more often produced by the interaction of the healer with the healee in the energetic level. (Excellent references on energy medicine are Richard Gerber's Vibrational Medicine and James Oschman's Energy Medicine.)

    THE HUMAN ENERGY FIELDS

The physical body that we see in a mirror is not the only one that we have, we also have an energy field thaT surrounds us named The Aura. The physical body is our most dense expression of energy, and we also have many other bodies sometimes called The subtle bodies

There are many different descriptions of our aura, but most of them describe it as having different layers.

There are also other important energy centers named The chakras where important exchanges of energy take place and that are also influenced by the energy healing.

WHAT SCIENCE SAYS ABOUT THE ENERGY HEALING

On the western civilization knowledge is acquired through the trial and error method or the scientific method but this is not the only way of gaining knowledge or maybe I should say that the scientific method only gains knowledge about through the information that our senses provide us, but there are other ways of gaining knowledge that eastern civilization believe to be equally valid.

Scientific method can only prove what we can perceive through one or more of our five senses (seeing is believing we say), but there are those who are able to perceive through higher sense perception

But it has also being found that the observer affects the object of observation through the act of observing, so there must be something that happens in some other kind of energy field that our scientific do not accept as real by now.

And modern science is making every day discoveries about new healing methods that are consistent with the idea of influencing the human energy field with other energies (sound, heat, etc.)

Undoubtedly very few scientists will accept the idea of energy healing, but there are beginning to be some researches that indicate that healing does have an effect. Herewith I will mention only one, but you can read about the others below in the References.

    A SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT

The following experiment proved that therapists practicing non-contact healing methods are able to induce significant changes in the energy field of blindfolded test subjects.

An individual was isolated behind a divider and a conductivity (or Kirlian) image was taken of his finger.

The practitioner drew a card on which the word brighter was written (he was the only one in the room to see the card), then he proceeded to move his hands around the test subject without touching him, in attempt to make the conductivity image of the test subject brighter

Then another image was taken after 3 minutes of attempting to increase conductivity.

The for the next three minutes the practitioner moved his hands around the test subject in an attempt to make the conductivity image of the text subject less bright, and another photo was taken.

The photos clearly indicated that the practitioner successfully increased the energy when he attempted to do it, and then decreased the brightness of the test subject conductivity without touching him when he was instructed to do so.

The brighter and smoother images observed after the experiment not only indicated that the test subject's energy changed, but also that an effective therapy was administered.

NOTE: If you want more information about this experiment you can find it at the CHI Institute: http://www.chiexplorer.com

WHAT DOES THE SCIENCE KNOW ABOUT THE HUMAN BODY'S ENERGY FIELDS?

These energy fields are quite measurable and there is strong evidence that known biophysical mechanisms can account for the observed phenomena.

All of us know that the human body has some electric fields that can be measured with techniques as EMG, EEG and EKG, ant that electrical signals are produced and received by the body.

In 1963 at Syracuce University it was also reported the first measurement of the magnetic field of the human heart, and in 1971 a superconducting magnetometer named SQUID was used to measure the magnetic field of the Brain.

In 1991 Seto and colleagues measured the magnetic field between the hands of healers and was established to be less than 1% or the hearts magnetic field. And if the heart magnetic field can regulate biological functions it is certainly feasible that the magnetic field coming out from the hands of the healers might also influence biological functions.

In 1989 Del Guiudice et al verified the existence of the Josephson junction, a superconducting semiconductor present in the living tissue

In 1993 McCraty discovered that the DNA acts as a superconducting magnetic field detector, able through the Hall effect to detect and produce magnetic signals, and to act as a signal amplifier.

Thus the modern science has discovered many mechanisms by which it is possible for healers to produce magnetic and electric healing energy to influence the patients. (those who see more information about this matter can read The Scientific Basis of Energy Medicine by James L. Oschman, 1998).

    WHAT DOES THE HEALEE FEEL

After an energy healing session, the healee can experience significant and substantial shifts in mind, body and spirit.

He can either experience a reduction or elimination of the symptoms, or a sense of love, acceptance and deep letting go.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BECOME A HEALER YOURSELF?

Are There Any Secrets to Living Longer ?

Life expectancy has always been high in some remote corners of the globe. Some distant and isolated villages in China and Tibet for example, have always reported cases of folks living to over 100 years old. There are no official birth records to back up their claims but if ever you see photos of these people they really do appear to be extremely old.

So why is it then that some cultures live longer than most others? Do they hold the secret to leading a long and healthy life? I don?t believe there?s a single answer to that question but healthy diet, healthy lifestyle, exercise, positive outlook, faith, family and companionship must all be contributory factors.

As far as diet goes, it?s a well known fact that the best food is natural and balanced produce. Fresh vegetables, whole grains, and fresh fruits are included in most healthy diets. Beans are pretty good for us too, and also nuts in moderation. Furthermore, just about any foods that contain omega-3 fatty acids are excellent for the health. A lot of people don?t know this but eggs which come from free range chickens contain omega-3 fatty acids? Now, omega-3 fatty acids are also found in many cold water fish and in pecorino cheese. Red wine in moderation is also touted by some octogenarians as a key to living longer but like all alcoholic beverages it has to be in moderation.

Another big mistake we make is the huge portions that we serve ourselves all too often. Eating until we?re fit to burst takes an awful strain on the body?s digestive system. The smaller the portions the better, even if it means eating an extra meal or two a day. It's a whole lot easier on the body than cramming in one or two heavy meals that?s for sure. And smoking? No healthy article would be complete without some mention on the dangers of the tobacco weed. Cigarettes, pipes, cigars etc, make no contribution to longevity and even those folks that do live to a ripe old age as smokers, are certainly not as fit as they would have been if they hadn?t smoked.

Social factors also play a part. Faith in a God or spiritual principle, long term friendships and a happy family all contribute towards lessening life's work and burdens and consequently play an important role in living healthier and longer lives.

I can?t stress enough how important an active lifestyle is. Many of us are far too deskbound or armchair-stuck these days. It appears to be a normal part of a modern life style but it doesn?t have to be.

Take a country like Japan for example, where many people are still living rural lives far away from the concrete jungles of modern society. They don?t have all the creature comforts that many of us have come to depend on. There?s little automation in their daily chores as they go out to fish, milk the cows and goats, mend the fences, chop wood, trim trees and hedgerows, roping and rounding up animals, and of course, doing all their cooking from fresh organic produce. Phew! Sounds tough doesn?t it, and it is of course, but as they do these things throughout their lives it keeps them fit and healthy. Think about it, they are in the fresh air, they get daily physical exercise, they?re working amongst their friends and family members in close-knit communities, most have a faith in some kind of higher power, or god, and all this equates to them being some of the oldest and healthiest living people on the face of the planet.

Just remember, there are things that we can all do personally to improve our chances of living, not only a longer life, but a healthier one too. Diet, exercise faith, and active participation in our communities can all help our wellbeing and purpose.

Andy Maingam is a expert publisher and webmaster of Lookatfood.com where he owns and operates a website that explors the foods of the world. What food comes from what country, and what do they eat? What do we eat? What wouldn?t or shouldn?t we eat. Magnetic Therapy Backed by Scientific Evidence Ignored by Conventional Medicine

The recent January 2006 issue of the British Medical Journal suggested patients be advised that magnetic therapy has no proved benefits. They argued that only blinded randomized controlled trials can prove medical benefit, and that it is difficult to study magnets in a blinded fashion.

The editorial obscures an important truth about research and real world healing. If we were to apply this standard to all medicines, we'd also have to point out that many common surgeries and medical procedures also have no proved health benefit. Few of them have been studied in randomized controlled trials, and they cost at least as much as magnetic healing does. But no one complains about that. This exemplifies the double standard the medical establishment applies to alternative medicine.

A randomized controlled trial of arthroscopic knee surgery for osteoarthritis found it to be no more efficacious than placebo, yet this surgery is performed on more than 600,000 people per year. This study appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine in July 2002.

The British Medical Journal editorial is at odds with the results of more than 300 favorable studies of powerful magnetic therapy for diseases including arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraine, multiple sclerosis, pain, sinusitis, and insomnia. Abstracts of these studies are available for free at The FeelGood Store. What?s more, an expert review of 18 high quality randomized controlled trials of magnetic therapy for pain concluded that the weight of the evidence favors magnetic pain relief. This review was published in June 2005 in the Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine.

The BMJ editor forgets that consumers are shrewd. If magnets don't work, they'll demand a refund or spread negative word of mouth. Plus, recent research continues to explain close relationship between nerves, the brain, and the immune system. The same neurovasculoimmune mechanisms that make acupuncture work explain how magnets heal the body. Nerves work via electricity and magnetic fields affect the flow of electricity.

The FeelGood Store has been providing customers with superior pain relief, beauty, fitness, and wellness products via mail order and the internet since 1993. They sell a variety of magnetic products including bracelets and joint supports.

  • Methods of Nature Cure

The nature cure system aims at the readjustment of the human system from abnormal to normal conditions and functions, and adopts methods of cure which are in conformity with the constructive principles of nature. Such methods remove from the system the accumulation of toxic matter and poisons without in any way injuring the vital organs of the body. They also stimulate the organs of elimination and purification to better functioning.

To cure disease, the first and foremost requirement is to regulate the diet. To get rid of accumulated toxins and restore the equilibrium of the system, it is desirable to completely exclude acid-forming foods, including proteins, starches and fats, for a week or more and to confine the diet to fresh fruits which will disinfect the stomach and alimentary canal. If the body is overloaded with morbid matter, as in acute disease, a complete fast for a few days may be necessary for the elimination of toxins. Fruit juice may, however, be taken during a fast. A simple rule is : do not eat when you are sick, stick to a light diet of fresh fruits. Wait for the return of the usual healthy appetite. Loss of appetite is Nature?s warning that no burden should be placed on the digestive organs. Alkaline foods such as raw vegetables and sprouted whole grain cereals may be added after a week of a fruits-only diet.

Another important factor in the cure of diseases by natural methods is to stimulate the vitality of the body. This can be achieved by using water in various ways and at varying temperatures in the form of packs or baths. The application of cold water, especially to the abdomen, the seat of most diseases, and to the sexual organs, through a cold sitting ( hip) bath immediately lowers body heat and stimulates the nervous system. In the form of wet packs, hydrotherapy offers a simple natural method of abating fevers and reducing pain and inflammation without any harmful side-effects. Warm water applications, on the other hand, are relaxing.

Other natural methods useful in the cure of diseases are air and sunbaths, exercise and massage. Air and sunbaths revive dead skin and help maintain it in a normal condition. Exercise, especially yogic asanas, promotes inner health and harmony and helps eliminate all tension: physical, mental and emotional. Massage tones up the nervous system and quickens blood circulation and the metabolic process.

Thus a well-balanced diet, sufficient physical exercise, the observation of the other laws of well-being such as fresh air, plenty of sunlight, pure drinking water, scrupulous cleanliness, adequate rest and right mental attitude can ensure proper health and prevent disease.

You've Got to Be You ? You Are an Individual in Sickness and in All Types of Health Care

Many people turn to alternative medicine because of wanting their provider to see them as a unique individual. Yet, the reality is that individualization matters in both conventional and alternative health care.

One of the poorly-understood problems with applying the findings from conventional medical research studies is that the findings reflect group averages, not information about individual patients. It really isn?t possible to know if the statistics apply to you or not.

Interestingly, a prominent academic geneticist from Duke University and reportedly worldwide vice-president of genetics at a leading pharmaceutical company was quoted as saying the following:

The vast majority of drugs ? more than 90 per cent ? only work in 30 or 50 percent of the people... I wouldn't say that most drugs don't work. I would say that most drugs work in 30 to 50 percent of people. Drugs out there on the market work, but they don't work in everybody.

What are conventional medical researchers doing about this alarming situation? They are starting to look at our individual genetic patterns to determine which drugs are most likely to help which people. Right now, the reality is that medical doctors have to use trial-and-error decision-making to choose the next drug option. So, it is coming full circle. Conventional medicine is recognizing the need to individualize treatment for different people with the same diagnosis. And they are working towards developing methods to do so for their primary therapeutic tool, drugs.

One of the strengths of many alternative medicine approaches is that they already individualize ? and they don?t need genetic tests to do so. They can use information that they can get from interviewing, observing, and examining the patient. Established alternative medicine systems such as acupuncture, classical homeopathy, and Ayurveda, have systems for evaluating the person as a whole to determine the optimal interventions in an individualized way.

The potential advantage of alternative medicine individualization over genetics tests is that the systems of care are well developed already. They don't rely on extensive and hard-to-get laboratory tests that are still in mostly research stages and that, in the end, may only tell the doctor how a person might respond to a specific drug for a specific problem in a specific body part. Although there are definitely situations when conventional medication is the way to go, the alternative health care systems can address health problems of the individual person now. The goals are to improve the well-being of the person as a whole, not just a particular body part.

Finally, even when drugs are essential (and many times they are to stay alive), people still want something more than just a treatment for a disease. That is, they want to go beyond merely surviving and reach a state of wellness or even flourishing. Alternative approaches are better suited to help develop that positive dimension of health care.

    Liposuction Cosmetic Surgery

Liposuction (otherwise known as lipoplasty) may be performed in an outpatient surgery center, hospital or a surgeon?s office facility. Some of the more complicated procedures require an overnight stay, but smaller procedures are typically done on an outpatient basis.

Liposuction surgery is performed by removing specific fat deposits in an attempt to reshape and area of one?s body. There are several methods for getting this done, but the basic goal is the same. It is very important to become educated on the different forms of liposuction so that you can discuss the various options with your plastic surgeon and find the procedure that best suits your needs.

There are several types of anesthesia options for liposuction procedures. Under certain circumstances the operation can be performed under local anesthesia without forcing the patient to go under. However, many patients prefer general anesthesia so they are completely asleep during the procedure. It is best to consult your plastic surgeon to determine what best fits your needs for the operation.

Recovering from liposuction takes several weeks. Immediately afterwards there will be some fluid draining involved from the incisions made during the operation. In order to best control swelling, some patients are fitted with an elastic garment to wear over the affected area for several weeks. Patients are encouraged to start walking immediately after surgery which allows many patients to get back to work as early as one week. After around four to six weeks the swelling will subside and you will look and feel like a brand new person.

The Real World Interacts Synergy among Health Care Treatments

Out of intense complexities intense simplicities emerge. -- Winston Churchill

Synergy occurs when 2+2 add up to more (or less) than 4. This idea is important in health care for combining treatments carefully and thoughtfully. This point relates both to prevention of disease and coordination of treatment options for people with many different chronic conditions. You put multiple factors together, and they create something bigger ? or at least ?different? ? from what they could do on their own.

Synergy can work for good or bad. Different factors can be synergistic, additive, or even antagonistic (working against each other).

That is, in generating health problems, new research is showing more and more that you might be OK with exposure to one risk factor, but two or more risk factors together really increase your risk of a negative outcome (illness).

Recently, for instance, a study just published in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that mice who were exposed to both polluted air and a high-fat diet had a lot more plaque build-up (over 40%) in the largest artery in the body, the aorta, than did mice who had no pollution exposure and a good fat diet (13%) or just a high-fat diet by itself (26%). This kind of interaction of pollution and high fat in the diet raises the risk for heart disease down the road.

In other words, the more risk factors that can be reduced, the better off you are likely to be. In practical terms, this can mean taking a good look at the location of where you live and work. Urban environments tend to have the greatest pollution of particles in the air, which is the kind of air pollution studied in the recent article. People who have long daily commutes to and from work or who live or spend many hours a day near busy traffic areas are going to be at greater risk from particle pollution in the air from vehicle exhausts.

What if you just can't change your location for now? Then at least take a serious look at the fat content of your diet. Both the amount and the type of fat may make a difference for different health risks. A diet that contains healthier fats (with lots of omega-3 fatty acids, as in wild Alaskan salmon) and/or the olive oil kinds of fats as in the Mediterranean diet, may be a way to transition away from the worse kinds of fats (the saturated variety) and hopefully too high a fat content in your diet.

General public health recommendations are for consuming less than 30% of your calories from fat and to emphasize the healthier types of fats (e.g., from olive, canola, or soy oils, non-hydrogenated versions). Lower fat and the right kinds of fat may lower your risk for illnesses such as heart disease and certain cancers.

Another place where synergy is starting to come into play is in food additive research. A new study looking at the toxicity of four common food additives ? two different food colorings, aspartame, and L-glutamic acid ? showed that combinations were toxic to developing nerve cells, whereas the isolated items by themselves were not.

We don't know for sure that these findings will translate into worries past the test tube stage, but they raise concerns. Our whole conventional way of thinking about toxic risks is to test each risk by itself. The trouble is, the world is all jumbled up together ? and things do combine. We know very little about what the combinations may mean for our long-term health outcomes, even if the single ingredients are OK.

In the real world, all of us are exposed to more than two factors at a time. The research is limited because of the difficulty in people juggling in their minds more than two factors. But reality is complicated. Complex, really. So, we don't know much at all about the interactions of different types or classes of factors for good or bad in our everyday lives.

So, synergy research for bad outcomes (illness) make us wonder if combining more than one treatment option might often produce larger benefits than staying too focused on only one thing. That is why the whole systems approach to making your health care decisions makes sense.

Sure, you have to start one thing at a time or it gets too overwhelming. But you can build on each step that you do take. For example, if you have chronic pain, would a combination of osteopathy or chiropractic or massage AND acupuncture help you more than staying with just one alone? Practitioners often claim that these kinds of benefits occur, but very little research has examined this possibility. We'll keep our eyes open for studies on package of care and let you know as they come out.

There is some research in diabetes prevention that hints at the advantages of a full package of treatments together versus a single drug. Intensive lifestyle coaching reduced the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes mellitus (the most common type, especially in persons who are overweight) by 58%, whereas the drug with usual lifestyle suggestions only helped reduce risk by 31%. These are in comparison with just lifestyle suggestions alone. So, don't count on a drug alone to do everything possible in solving the complex problems that come together in chronic disorders and diseases.

In short, prevention and treatment can be both simple and complex. Knowing how to use the synergy concept empowers you to make more informed choices about your lifestyle and your treatment.

    Acne Scar Treatment Techniques

Acne is one of the most common and bothersome skin conditions for adolescence. Although acne itself is not curable, even the most severe cases can be treated effectively. For these sever conditions, various types of acne scar treatment are available if warranted by the situation.

Recent estimates indicate that 85% of the population between the ages of 12 and 24 suffer from acne. The severity and amount of time a person has acne can vary from person to person, but for most of us, it will eventually go away by itself. It is true that even mild acne may affect normal social activities because of the undesirable changes to your appearance, but this is considered more of a nuisance than anything else.

Unfortunately, there are more severe forms of acne with greater consequences. In addition to being painful, sever cases of acne can cause serious scarring. Acne scars can occur in both mild acne or severe acne, but the chances of scarring increases as the acne severity increases. Luckily, you have the option of choosing between several acne scar treatment techniques available.

The purpose of acne scar treatment is to restore your skin to its original appearance. You will find, however, that restoration is not always 100%, but acne scar treatment works to make the scarring almost invisible. There are a variety of techniques available to remove acne scars and each one uses a different approach. It is recommended that you consult with a dermatologist to determine the best technique based on your type of acne and the severity of scarring present.

At this point, you may be asking yourself how acne scars occur. In general, acne scars, and other types of scars for that matter, result from tissue damage. After tissue is damaged, the body will begin healing itself and in the process discourages any chance of infection. Your body sends a special chemical call collagen to the affected area. Sometimes, the collagen is produced in excess and develops into an irregularly shaped fibrous mass resulting in an acne scar.

Other types of scars that may also occur include soft scars, depressed scars, ice-pick scars, atrophic macules, and many others. For the most part, these types of scars are caused by the loss of tissue from a particular area.

Injecting collagen under the surface of the scarred skin is one of the most popular acne scar treatment techniques being used. The purpose of this technique is to puff out or restore the skin, which makes the scar much less noticeable. Another acne scar treatment technique is called autologus fat transfer. This process uses the fat from one part of your body for injection into the affected area. This helps to fill in the scar, but since fat is eventually absorbed into the body, repeated applications may be needed.

Other effective acne scar treatments include laser or dermabrasion. Skin grafting and even surgery is a possibility, but these procedures are used only used in the most extreme cases. Hopefully, you will not have to undergo any of these techniques to address your acne, but if scarring is present, with the help of your dermatologist you will be able to make an effective choice.

Onion and Garlic: Spice Up the Sick

Onions don't just make us cry and garlic isn't just for vampires. Onions and garlic have been used as spices in cooking for thousands of years and they are usually the first ones thrown in to the frying pan. However, these tasty ingredients are often confined to the kitchen because few people know of the many uses of garlic and onions outside cooking. They contribute a lot to our health and are a couple of the more widely used herbs in alternative medicine.

    Onion

From the early beginnings of traditional medicine, the onion has been famous for its healing powers. Onions were speculated to have antiseptic properties and were often used in wound dressings and washes to protect wounds from infection. When taken internally, as in onion soup, it is an effective expectorant for coughs, colds and even bronchitis. Slow and frequent sips of the soup were thought to relieve sore throats and sinusitis. It could also break high fevers.

Onions are thought to have diuretic properties and are good for people suffering from arthritis and gout. Onions were used as a remedy for flatulence and constipation as well as disorders of the liver. It is also considered generally as an aid in digestion by acting as a tonic to the liver thus stimulating it to produce bile.

Onions are famous for their ability to lower high blood pressure and dissolve and prevent the formation of blood clots by improving circulation. It also purifies the blood with its diuretic property. Cases of anemia have also been treated with onions.

When used externally, onions can remedy a lot of skin problems. The juice of the onion is widely used in the treatment for stings, insect bites, animal bites, cuts, boils, abscesses and even burns. Onion juice is also good for toothache, earache and warts. A poultice made of onions is known to cure chilblains. When inhaled, it can relieve headaches. Lastly, when handled correctly, onions can be a very potent aphrodisiac.

    Garlic

Nowadays, garlic is mostly thought of as a culinary component. But with the recent emergence of garlic pills that are used as a health supplement for certain conditions, people are starting to realize its healing prowess. As with the onion, the use of the bulb of the garlic in herbal medicine dates back at least a thousand years and it is used in a lot of different ways. Garlic is known for its ability to prevent and cure infections. It is also well-known in treating simple to serious respiratory disorders such as asthma, influenza and sore throats, bronchitis and lung infections. Garlic is also used as a decongestant and expectorant to relieve the discomforts of asthma, cough and chest infections.

In the digestive system, garlic has been found to have a good effect on the liver and also in the intestines for it helps flush out worm infestations. It is a general cleanser of the alimentary canal and an over-all aid to digestion.

Probably the most profound of its benefits is its ability to treat certain disorders of the blood. It has the ability to lower blood pressure as well as blood sugar levels. It can also treat excessive blood clotting.

When used externally, it also has a lot of benefits. Garlic is crushed and macerated then mixed with oil or made into an ointment. This is effective in treating stings, insect and animal bites, cuts and ringworm. This mixture or ointment applied to certain areas is able to relieve the pain and inflammation of the joints in rheumatism and sprains. When rubbed into the chest, it could also lessen labored breathing and chest infections as well as earaches.

    Radio Frequency Energy Fans Thermacool

I guess you wouldn?t think that radio frequency energy would be making waves in the beauty industry? But, it is. A device that uses RFE is being used in the Thermalcool procedure. If you don?t know what Thermacool is, then you haven?t had your ear to the station. Thermacool is the new non-surgical procedure that gives men and women a healthy alternative to surgical facelifts. The process tightens your skin by contracting the deep layers of skin. Thermacool is also known on the market as Thermalift and Thermage. Let?s call it Thermacool because it sounds hip.

Two thumbs up! That?s the rating The Food and Drug Administration is giving Thermacool. The FDA?s approval is leading to the procedures widespread use. Doctors and their patients believe Thermcool irons out wrinkles and reduces sagging skin. The face is the best place to use Thermacool, however it is used on the neck and arms as well. It is a good treatment anywhere there is loose skin. Some folks are using it under the arms and to treat stretch marks on the abdomen and hips.

60-Year Old Lynn Shores had a treatment six months ago and is looking forward to having another one in about three more months. She says, ?I was looking twice my age! I had the procedure done because I wanted to look younger and prettier in my face.? Shores began to see results about two months after having the treatment. She is among a growing number of people who believe the benefits of Thermacool far outweigh the risks. Thermacool may cause some discomfort but the risk of surgery, anesthesia and scarring are less than with surgical procedures. In fact, some people say the procedure really doesn?t hurt that much at all.

So you may be wondering how does it work? It takes anywhere from thirty to forty five minutes to complete the Thermacool procedure. Most patients? only need a topical anesthetic cream placed on the face. Your technician will do that about an hour before the treatment is scheduled to begin. Other people may need Valium or some other kind of oral sedative. ?I was just so jittery about having it done, says 35 year old Marc Thompson. I didn?t know if it would improve my appearance or make it worst. I guess men are just not supposed to try these things, but I took my wife?s recommendation.? Thermacool is not any different from any other surgical procedure if you need a stronger sedative, you?ll need an anesthesiologist to administer the dose.

As I mentioned, Thermacool uses radio frequency energy to apply heat under the epidermis or top layer of the skin. The heat is applied directly into the dermis layer. The dermis layer is right under the epidermis. I could feel a warming on my face. It felt unusual. I couldn?t do anything but lay still,? says Tonya Morgan.

You?ll want to lay still too as the heat causes the tissue in the dermis layer to warm up. This controlled heating of deeper layers of skin and tissue causes the skin to contract and tighten. This is known as volumetric tissue heating. There is some pain every time there is a pulse, but a cooling spray brings some relief after each pulse.

The volumetric tissue heating causes the collagen underneath the skin tissue to contract and shrink. At the same time, the top layer of the skin is kept cool by cryogen cooling. Cryogen cooling keeps the temperature on the surface of the skin cool while the dermis tissues are heated up. The heating action causes two reactions. The first result is an increased thickness in the top layer of skin. It?s the heating that actually causes works to reduce the wrinkles.

The second result is collagen remolding and the production of new collagen. The skin continues to tighten over time as the skin heals. You may be able to see a difference in your appearance immediately. However, it takes most people up to six months to see a difference. It is possible for the procedure to be repeated again after six months. You should let your technicians take before and after pictures to help you see any subtle changes.

Now, you?re probably wondering whether Thermacool, Thermage and Thermalift are right for you. Patient?s who live on a pacemaker cannot undergo the procedure; it?s just too risky. You may want to pass on the procedure if your skin is really, really loose. Surgery may be your only hope. However, Thermacool works best in combination with laser treatments, Botox, resytlane, and collagen injections. Traditional eye, forehead and eyebrow surgeries also work well with Thermacool.

Research shows Thermacool works! If it didn?t the FDA wouldn?t have given it a nod. Patients wouldn?t have issued a strong endorsement either. ?I?ve never felt better about myself. I know most people would be afraid to try a procedure like this, but not me! I?m all for looking younger and healthier. The best part is how good I feel about me,? says Shores.

    Natural Home Remedies that Deliver

Thankfully, we do not take Murphy?s Law, too seriously. Imagine, dealing your sickness with this attitude: ?What?s going to get wrong, shall go wrong?! Stoical, yes; practicable, no. Natural home remedies have maintained a balance between the excessive hypochondria and absolute unconcern, as far as diseases are concerned. Age-old wisdom has a habit of coming true, though, in some instances, nobody knows how. Natural home remedies-be it for acne, skin care, infection or cold or even chronic irritants like arthritis or headaches-work or at least, provide relief to some extent.

A German proverb says that cold and cough can be cured in a week with medication, it takes seven days, otherwise. Is it not natural, that cold and cough would have a list of natural home remedies to fall back onto? The symptoms are running or blocked nose, Sneezing, Sore throat, Congestion, Headache, Low fever with body pain, Loss of appetite, Lethargy and Insomnia. The remedy is taking half a teaspoon of ginger juice with half a teaspoon of honey, three times a day (morning, noon and night). In cases of dry cough, chewing on a small piece of fresh ginger with salt sprinkled on it helps.

Severe pain in the affected joints, inflamed muscles, ligaments and cartilage, movement of the joint becoming extremely painful, especially in cold, windy and damp weather-means it is arthritis. One raw clove of garlic every day is supposed to be a cure. Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with warm water, taken twice a day, also helps cure arthritis.

?Not, tonight darling, I have a headache? is an endearing lie that has become an integral part of every man woman relationship, since Adam and Eve. However, headaches are not lies, if nothing they are frustrating as hell. The symptoms are pain tearing apart the head, forehead or the eyes, nausea, irritability and loss of appetite. Home remedy suggests a paste made from grounded clove, cinnamon and almond to be applied on the forehead. A quarter teaspoon of clove powder in one teaspoon of cinnamon oil, applied on the pain zone, also provides cure.

Acne, occurs due to a myriad reasons and likewise there are a host of skin care treatments. Green coconut water or mehndi, juice of basil leaf blended with Chandan paste are traditional natural home remedies. However, a regular use of TCA peels can really give you a skin, free from blemishes.

Natural Home remedies are here since ages. Would they have been, if they had not worked?

    Reiki Master Responsibilities

Reiki Master, what does it mean? Some say it is a level of achievement in Reiki, whilst others say it is an acceptance that Reiki has mastered the healer. And there are many definitions in-between.

To me, being a Reiki Master carries a great deal of responsibility which I must humbly accept. This breaks down into three main responsibilities.

The first responsibility is to oneself, to nurture and develop from within, and to release any negativity from within.

Often in today's world, we come across conflict that we can choose to either take on board or calmly resolve. We may get disease that we are to heal from holistically. We are challenged with negative emotional reactions which we must let go of. We are challenged with residual negative emotions from our past, feelings such as worry, anger, low self-steem, we are not to allow these feelings to fester and grow but to let them go and heal. Above all, we have to take care of ourselves, living by the Reiki Principles as given by Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki, and allowing ourselves Reiki healing every day. After all, we are not of much use to anyone else if we are ourselves a mess! I find that for myself and for other Reiki Masters, this first responsibility is the hardest to carry out. It is an ongoing effort which gets easier with years of practice. The key is to keep going back to the teachings of Usui with an open mind and humble spirit.

The second responsibility is to people who come to us for Reiki. There are members of the public who come for treatment and students who come for initiation and teaching.

When someone comes for a treatment with Reiki, my teaching was to explain to the client that Reiki is a holistic energy, going to where it is most needed, and to encourage the client to holistically take care of their health.. Reiki works very differently from allopathic medicine. Whilst allopathic medicine fixes the symptom, Reiki healing is directed at the whole person. For instance, if a client came complaining of knee pain, it may be that the knee is stressed because the hip is out of alignment. The hip may have become that way in order to compensate for a shoulder being out of alignment. This may have happened due to stress in the person's life. If this stress is still ongoing, the Reiki is likely to heal the stress first. This makes sense, as leaving the stress there may lead to further shoulder-hip-knee misalignment and further knee damage! Part of the responsibility of the Reiki Master is to make the client aware of this holistic process and the need for several sessions. This gives the Reiki the chance to heal the symptoms as well as the underlying causes.

When a student comes for initiation and teaching, this is the beginning of a spiritual, emotional, mental and physical journey. The Reiki Master has to take into account the road traveled before this point and most importantly, support the student on their exciting new journey with Reiki.

Many of us have come into Reiki from a background of physical or emotional pain. For some, there was a spiritual void to fill. A good Reiki Master will be sensitive to the needs of their students. This means avoiding environmental irritants in the class to care for students with chemical sensitivities. It means letting go of abusive remarks given by angry souls. It means being firm but gentle with students from an emotionally unhappy life. Above all, in the class the Reiki Master should ensure the student feels wanted, respected, accepted and loved. After the initiation and teaching, the Reiki Master can support their student by making available and stressing the need for regular contact and supervision. The rest is up to the student and what feels right for their development with Reiki.

The third responsibility is towards loved ones and all other creatures; in short, our environment. Our healing includes caring for this environment. This does not mean allowing an abusive family member to abuse us or contributing to social wrongs because everyone else seems to! It means being responsible, loving unconditionally, and allowing healing to flow wherever it is needed and with permission of the healee. For instance, a Reiki Master can start each day by asking that they are a channel, or conduit, for Reiki energy and allowing it to flow wherever they walk in nature. A Reiki Master can choose to purchase environmentally-friendly products. A Reiki Master can be available for family members for healing as feels appropriate and be a force for good. A Reiki Master living by the Reiki Principles will earn their living honestly, honour their teachers and elders, and be gracious to every living thing.

I am indeed very glad that I took the step to become a Reiki Master. It can be difficult to live the Reiki way of life sometimes, and I get the odd reminder every now and then. But the love and acceptance that Reiki teaches us for others and ourselves means that we always open to receiving love. When we channel or receive love, love goes through us, and we feel love.

Rudraksha The Ancient Indian Power Bead for Success Self Empowerment Well Being and Growth

Rudraksha are beads which grow on select Rudraksha ? Elaeocarpus Ganitras Roxb trees from select locations of South East Asia (Java, parts of Malaysia) and South Asia (Northern India and Nepal). They have powerful Electromagnetic properties which help in controlling Stress Levels, Blood Pressure, Hypertension, and induce tranquil feeling in the wearer. They also improve Concentration, Focus and Mental Stamina. Rudraksha have been widely used by people of Eastern cultures like Chinese, Buddhist, Tao, Japanese, Zen, Korean, and Indian since ages. It was found that wearing these beads around the heart instilled tranquility, and calmness which were found ideal for focused meditation which was an important aspect of Eastern culture.

Rudraksha beads have many other powerful properties in transforming one?s personality and outlook in a positive way. Studies have proven that Rudraksha have Electromagnetic, Paramagnetic and Inductive properties varying for different mukhis or facets and on wearing a particular mukhi or a set of mukhis specific Electrical impulses are sent to the brain stimulating certain positive brain centers (brain chemicals) thereby causing a transformation in the personality, outlook, charisma, and confidence of the wearer. It was also found that wearing Rudraksha beads controlled heart beat, in turn smothering the amount of blood going to the brain. It can be noted that at times of high stress and lack of focus there is a gushing of blood circulation to the brain and vice versa. With the help of these beads a kind of Tranquility, Concentration and Focus was easily achieved. It is found that those wearing Rudraksha beads have among other benefits also found the Stress levels reduced to unexpected levels something which was possible only with heavy and continued dose of tranquillisers. Rudraksha beads emit positive vibrations flushing out all the negativity in physical and mind level.

Thousands of persons who have worn authentic Rudraksha beads have repeatedly confirmed that it has given them considerable relief from Blood Pressure, Stress, Hypertension, Depression, and other mind related problems including neurotic conditions. Rudraksha has been found to boost the confidence and inner strength of the wearers significantly. Apart from the general purpose beads mostly 4,5 and 6mukhis there are more powerful Rudraksha beads from 1 mukhi till 21 mukhi each capable of aligning our mind and the positive energies around us to specific aspects like Prosperity, Creativity, Intutive Ability, Speculation, Sexual Harmony, etc. Surely Rudraksha are the wonder beads helping us perform better and lead a more successful life. Even for achieving success in business or professional carrear it has been found that the blessings of various Gods/Goddesses ruling different facet Rudraksha has proved greatly beneficial and several lives have got a new direction and positive success. However we also say a lot more research certainly needs to be done to really understand the miraculous powers of this powerful bead.

Rudraksha is a seed of a fruit which is covered with a pulp and an outer skin. The skin is green in colour like a banana skin, but when plucked from the tree and allowed to remain as it is, the colour of the skin turn blackish blue. The diameter of the seed is upto 1inch and is nearly round in shape and belongs to the Elaeocarpus Ganitras family. The seed can have `1 to 14 mukhis or facets but Rudraksha till 21 mukhis or facets have also been obtained. The mukhi or facet is easy to count and is a natural division of the seed. A mukhi is a complete line from the top to bottom of the Rudraksha. The Indian epics are full of varying effects of the various faces. Most commonly found is the 5 mukhi which contributes to almost 90% of the entire crop and as the mukhis keep on increasing the rarity of the bead also increases. Prices of the different mukhis is on the availability of the bead and not on the effect of the bead.
